In March, over 140 boys - an increase from 120 in 2021 - embarked upon their practice expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

With our own equipment supplemented by maps, tents and stoves, we were ready to proceed with six hours of walking on the first day, immediately followed by preparing the camp we would be staying in. The dinner was perhaps not as tasty as one would expect in the comfort of their house, but you’d be naive to think it would be anyway!

A rather cold night became the backdrop for the next day of walking. For the practice expedition - this was only a few hours - quite short compared to the six hours of the previous day. Upon arriving at the finish site, the weekend was signed off with a debrief and then (hopefully) a good night’s sleep!
