An afternoon full of celebration and rejoice. This is how we celebrate Senior Prizegiving - Challoners style. All students, old, current, and new gathered inside the main hall in excitement to celebrate the achievements of their peers. From the moment the first name was read aloud, till the last, the Challoners spirit and companionship remained high.

As a new student, I have never felt so welcome or included in such a fantastic event. At first, name by name, all Year 11 DCGS students received their official GCSE certificates. Current Year 12 student Shreyes Verma quoted “it was an opportunity to celebrate all the hard work we had put in over the last two years”. Afterwards, the subject prizes were awarded to the students, and lastly, the Governors Awards were presented

It was our honour to hear from the exceptional guest speaker David Roberts. He addressed his history as an ex-DCGS parent and school governor, alongside his impressive role in being vice-Chairman of NHS England and Chairman of Beazley plc. Sharing the view of all those in the audience that afternoon, former student Cameron Cork quoted “Mr Roberts was very inspiring, and the event was delivered very well by the staff”. Shreyes Verma adds that “he touched upon life lessons he learned from previous mistakes”. It was a triumphant event, and the speaker’s encouraging words brought about motivation for the students.

All in all, it was a remarkable opportunity to attend this function and to honour the achievements of those in my year. I would like to thank Mr Colquhoun, Miss Nicholls and the rest of the Sixth Form co-ordinators and administration, for all their help in making this Senior Prizegiving a success.
