It is a privilege to work with such educational excellence, a school that helps students to fulfil their potential, not only to become the best they can be, but also good citizens who care about others. As I work in teaching myself, I am naturally interested in teaching and learning and it is always a pleasure to get involved in new thinking, new ideas and raising the bar, I like the restless desire to go on improving, to raise funds and invest in new facilities and the adaptability of Challoner's which has never been more needed than today.

Mr Vaughan AttonAppointed (to 12 January 2029)
Mr Vaughan Atton
Background
Following my degree in Law (LL.B.), what began as a brief six-month stint in the financial services sector became a career now extending over two decades. Over those years I have balanced multiple roles, building and growing divisions from launching a business within a leading FX and payments organisation to spearheading global transformation initiatives. I enjoy aspects that demand both strategic insight and technical proficiency. My work has often involved navigating complex regulatory frameworks, sharpening my understanding of the industry's most intricate challenges. Driven by a commitment to excellence and continuous learning, I understand and respect the value and importance of a good education across the broadest perspective for everyone.
Contribution/ Passion
Education was central to my childhood; my father was a secondary headteacher and my mother a SENDCO and chair of governors. I appreciate the important role schools play in everyone's life and the commitment needed to ensure they are successful. I was aware of Dr Challoner's strong reputation for academic rigour and excellence long before moving to the area. A visit to the school's 2024 Open Evening further impressed me, particularly the breadth of opportunities and experiences it offers and the calibre of both the students and staff I met. Like businesses, schools are continuously adapting to change, addressing challenges and seeking new opportunities to enrich and extend all that they can offer. I am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to this school and the wider community it serves.
About me
Originally from Devon, as a student I was drawn to the vibrant energy and opportunities of London. Over the years, I have worked across the capital, from Knightsbridge to Canary Wharf, via the City. My wife and I enjoyed living in East London for the best part of a decade, travelling as much as we were able to. When the time came to raise our family, we explored the home counties and decided Amersham was the ideal place to live. We now enjoy family life with three young sons. With a keen interest and curiosity for many things, I bring a well-rounded perspective from both my work and personal life that I hope will strengthen my service as a governor.

Mr Tom Batty
Background
Educated in the United Kingdom and after a flirtation with financial services, I headed south to start teaching in New Zealand (Thames High School, St Patrick's College, Wellington) and Australia (Waverley College). After returning to the UK, I taught mathematics and served as a house master at Eton College (United Kingdom) before my appointment as the ninth principal of Scotch College, Melbourne (Australia) in 2008. I finished at Scotch in 2022, returned to the UK and took on the role of Executive Director of the International Boys' Schools Coalition.
Contribution/ Passion
Of my 35 years in education, I have spent 32 in boys' schools. Across New Zealand, Australia, and the UK, as teacher and most recently principal, and through courses, conferences, trips, tours, and friendships in the United States, South Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, I have observed different cultural and systemic approaches to the common thread of growing good men.
About me
I am interested in the relationship between the micro and the macro, the judgement that rests between awareness and action, the interface between social and economic enterprise and parallels to mathematical pattern in the social world. I am married to Lee and we have two daughters, Poppy and Anna, both of whom, to differing degree, share my lifelong passion for Brentford Football Club.

Contribution/ Passion
rowing up with parents who were both teachers - my dad in TEFL and my mum in state secondary (head of History and Sixth Form; Oxford University as head of PGCE training and programmes) - I have always been empathetic to the pressures and expectations placed upon schools and teachers. As a parent myself (Y12 DCGS and Y10 CGS), previously a Young Enterprise Board Member and volunteer, and now an Enterprise Advisor (Chalfonts Community College), I am acutely aware of the ever- increasing demands placed upon schools, as well as on the students themselves, amidst rapidly evolving worlds regarding work, tech, culture and communication. In my current work (with non-profit Brixton Finishing School), I work with schools, careers services and creative industry partners to inspire more emergent talent from state secondary and under- represented communities to consider careers in the creative industries.
About me
Having grown up in Oxford, studied in Brighton and worked for much of my career in London, I have lived in Amersham for the last 12 years - with my husband Seb (a creative director and sustainability consultant), our son and daughter - and dog Buddy. I'm a big fan of regular pilates sessions, zumba classes, long dog walks in the Chilterns, food treats at Pluma and Koyo, and way too frequent trips to Nena and Sycamore cafe. I'm also a keen lifelong learner - currently studying sustainability, Spanish and AI.
