Careers Fair

The Careers Fair, in March 2026, transformed the school into something closer to a bustling professional crossroads than a normal school day, with 89 companies and individuals, as well as universities, setting up stalls to speak directly with students and parents about life beyond the classroom.

From engineers to lawyers to niche careers many students had never even considered, the event created a rare chance to step outside the usual “what do you want to be?” conversation and actually explore what different paths look like in practice.

For many parents, it proved unexpectedly eye-opening. One described how speaking to several law firms helped narrow down possible specialisms for their child far earlier than they would have managed on their own, calling it a “hugely helpful” opportunity. Another simply called the event “brilliant,” praising both the organisation and the sheer range of exhibitors, as well as the conversations it sparked at home afterwards.

Students were equally engaged, making the most of the chance to ask questions and test their ideas in real time. One student reflected that the fair was “excellent,” highlighting how it opened up a clearer picture of “life after Challoner’s” through genuine conversations rather than abstract advice.

Employers and exhibitors clearly felt the energy, too. Many commented on how engaged the students were and how thoughtful their questions became. One described it as “the best Careers Fair I’ve attended so far,” while another praised it as a “terrific event” that offered a refreshing opportunity to meet curious, motivated young people. Despite the long day, the enthusiasm clearly made it worthwhile, with one exhibitor simply summing it up as “tiring, but really enjoyable.”

If anything, the overwhelming message from all sides was that this wasn’t just an information event; it was a catalyst. Conversations started here are likely to continue well beyond the hall doors.
