Swimming Fundraiser for Reserva
Last October, Dr Challoner’s Grammar School kindly gave me the opportunity to attend the IUCN World Conservation Congress, which happens every four years. Not only was this an opportunity of a lifetime, but the progression of my conservation work for my environmental charity, Reserva the Youth Land Trust.
I was lucky enough to present an assembly on my experiences and following on, I was later chosen as an environmental representative for 7 Holman. Now, Reserva recently started work on their latest project: Piamonte Conectado, a project based in Colombia which protects areas for the highly endangered Caquetá Titi Monkey. At the start of the year, I realised it had been a while since my last fundraising activity, so I decided that now was the perfect time to act.
I decided that my fundraiser would be the same as my previous one, a sponsored winter swim. And so, on 17 January, I swam 100 lengths at Chesham Moor Gym and Swim pool.
It was a very successful swim and I reached my target of 100 lengths, raising £318 for the project. This was still a long way away from my goal of £500, though, so I may have to do another fundraiser soon… I can’t wait!
