Year 12 London Challenge
Last month, Year 12 students at DCGS traded classrooms for the bustling streets of London for an unforgettable Enrichment Day. Divided into small groups, we set off to explore the city, completing a series of activities while navigating our way around London (with the help of Google Maps!).
The aim was simple: gain as many points as possible. To do that, we had to take selfies with different places, objects and people, revolving around various themes. The more creative, the better! For example, for the theme of literature, many students convened around the iconic Sherlock Holmes statue. In South Kensington, the heart of London's museums, we ran into many other teams looking for famous artefacts and ended up comparing points and sharing tips.
But the day wasn’t just about points or winning. It was an invaluable opportunity for classmates to get to know each other properly and step outside of the familiar comfort of the school setting. For many, the London Challenge was a highlight of the first term– a preview of the conviviality and camaraderie Challoner's offers. As a new student myself, I returned feeling highly confident in the friendships I both made and strengthened, and most importantly, feeling like I was truly part of my year group.
