Year 9 Austria - Activity Week

The travel was first class; after an early start of 3 am, we arrived at the airport, and after some free time strolling around, we boarded our flight. The plane was of very good quality and it was a fun and short trip without any turbulence. Once we got on our bus, we took a lengthy coach journey to our hotel, and took a similar coach to and from all of our activities. The coaches were pristine and of good quality, which allowed us to recharge for later activities. On our travel back, we spent a lot of time in the Munich airport before embarking on our flight home, with similar good quality facilities. Finally, we travelled home after passport control and arrived at DCGS near midnight.

After a long day of canyoning, followed by hours of intense, freezing glacial water, we arrived back at the hotel, ate food, and played foot tennis. I was wandering through the hotel with my friends and we stumbled upon a lovely field outside. We intended to play some rugby until we were greeted by an Austrian school, who challenged us to a game of football. Although we got beaten, we made some good memories and had a lot of fun. I’m sure that this trip had something for everybody.

Activities in Austria, such as kayaking and high ropes, were very entertaining and allowed us to connect with the environment as well as other people that we hadn’t talked to before. However, the weather wasn’t the best and it was very cold, especially during the canyoning. But still, they were fun and safe, as our instructors were amazingly trained.

The hotel in Austria was of very good quality, and it had lots of ways to entertain ourselves, such as trampolines, football pitches and volleyball courts. We often had a few hours of free time in the evenings after dinner, which we used for socialising. If you compare our trip to others, ours was definitely the most worthwhile. The first-rate facilities, pristine rooms and amazing experiences made this trip a memory to last forever.
