Thursday 21 August 2025 GCSE Results 2025 The publication of GCSE results today is a stepping stone for our year 11 students, and we celebrate their achievements and efforts with them. We are pleased to report a large number of success stories, with students achieving strong grades across the whole curriculum. Two thirds of all qualifications taken were graded 7 or better, and 40 students achieved a clean sweep of grades at that level. Whilst celebrating these achievements we also recognise the unusual challenges this group of students have faced through their education. The disruption of the pandemic affected this year group's transition from primary school to secondary school, meaning they didn't experience important milestones earlier in their schooling. As they now complete their GCSEs and prepare for the next steps in their education we should all acknowledge their journey, and the unique set of challenges they have experienced. Despite this they have shown resilience and ambition in their pursuit of their own ambitions,

Thursday 3 July 2025 GCSE Art Trip to Tate Britain Picture the perfect cultural day out: art, music, imposing, life-like statues gazing on their spectators. Well, merge these into one building and you have Tate Britain, visited by aspiring artists at GCSE and A-level! The trip was full of good fun and there was simply so much to see and do. We started off by getting the underground line to Pimlico, London, traipsing along enormous white-washed properties towards the Tate. It's a huge building and the entrance is quite intimidating; but the group went through unphased!

Wednesday 2 July 2025 Year 9 at the Royal Society Science Exhibition Blessed by the remarkable spell of cool weather, we embarked on a visit to the Royal Society in London to attend its Summer Exhibition. Upon arriving, we immediately set off to explore, initially in a well ordered group, but that rapidly disintegrated as we each found ourselves immersed in the most recent scientific discoveries and innovative inventions. The little group I was in used a crude cardboard and tin can radio telescope to detect radio signals from galactic hydrogen. Through this, we learnt about the SKAO (square kilometre array observatory), the project that is building the two largest telescope arrays in the world. Specialists from various prominent universities also talked about projects such as using quantum entanglement to detect cancer, light activated catalysts, detecting seismic activity from wildlife to aid conservation and my personal favourite: Faraday's Gold Colloids. These gold nano-particles can still interact with light after being suspended in water for the pa

Thursday 26 June 2025 Year 12 Higher Education Conference On the 26th June Year 12 students made their way to Kings Church Amersham for the Higher Education Conference. This event is hosted every year for Year 12's to learn about post-18 options and to hear from the experts on how to craft a successful University application. The day began with a session on writing personal statements from a Student Recruitment Executive at the University of Warwick. It was so valuable to hear from an expert at a top university about what they're really looking for! Later that morning, a panel of Year 13 students with a fresh perspective of the process answered our burning questions and shared what they learned. In the afternoon, the director of Recruitment, Admissions and Participation from the University of Cambridge, with over 25 years of admissions experience, shared his wealth of knowledge and advice. Perhaps the most valuable experience was the opportunity for every student to have a 10 minute individual interview with their tutor. The chance to discuss
