Thursday 3 July 2025 GCSE Art Trip to Tate Britain Picture the perfect cultural day out: art, music, imposing, life-like statues gazing on their spectators. Well, merge these into one building and you have Tate Britain, visited by aspiring artists at GCSE and A-level! The trip was full of good fun and there was simply so much to see and do. We started off by getting the underground line to Pimlico, London, traipsing along enormous white-washed properties towards the Tate. It's a huge building and the entrance is quite intimidating; but the group went through unphased!

Wednesday 2 July 2025 Year 9 at the Royal Society Science Exhibition Blessed by the remarkable spell of cool weather, we embarked on a visit to the Royal Society in London to attend its Summer Exhibition. Upon arriving, we immediately set off to explore, initially in a well ordered group, but that rapidly disintegrated as we each found ourselves immersed in the most recent scientific discoveries and innovative inventions. The little group I was in used a crude cardboard and tin can radio telescope to detect radio signals from galactic hydrogen. Through this, we learnt about the SKAO (square kilometre array observatory), the project that is building the two largest telescope arrays in the world. Specialists from various prominent universities also talked about projects such as using quantum entanglement to detect cancer, light activated catalysts, detecting seismic activity from wildlife to aid conservation and my personal favourite: Faraday's Gold Colloids. These gold nano-particles can still interact with light after being suspended in water for the pa

Thursday 26 June 2025 Year 12 Higher Education Conference On the 26th June Year 12 students made their way to Kings Church Amersham for the Higher Education Conference. This event is hosted every year for Year 12's to learn about post-18 options and to hear from the experts on how to craft a successful University application. The day began with a session on writing personal statements from a Student Recruitment Executive at the University of Warwick. It was so valuable to hear from an expert at a top university about what they're really looking for! Later that morning, a panel of Year 13 students with a fresh perspective of the process answered our burning questions and shared what they learned. In the afternoon, the director of Recruitment, Admissions and Participation from the University of Cambridge, with over 25 years of admissions experience, shared his wealth of knowledge and advice. Perhaps the most valuable experience was the opportunity for every student to have a 10 minute individual interview with their tutor. The chance to discuss

Wednesday 28 May 2025 Year 8 Activity Week Adventures After three days packed with exams, we finally got to go on trips for the rest of the week. One of these trips was to the Science Museum in London. We started our day by getting on the coach and starting our journey to London. After what felt like hours, we arrived at the Science Museum and started our day in the space exhibit. In there, installations ranged from model rockets and realistic model planets to space suits and control panels. This exhibit was one of the most interesting ones for me. But it doesn't end there, after the space exhibit we got to watch a movie about our planet, in IMAX and 3D. That's right, the ultimate movie experience. After a short break for lunch, we headed to many other exhibits around the museum, from models of cars to old hospital machines. This trip was one to remember.

Wednesday 21 May 2025 Year 7 Activity Week Adventures The Year 7 Activity Week began with a trip to Whipsnade Zoo: an amazing opportunity to experience thousands of animals. The day had something in it for everyone - whether that be wandering through the humid butterfly house, seeing the mighty elephants and rhinos, exploring underwater habitats in the aquarium or admiring the lions. Not only was there lots to see - it was a sensory experience too. The variety of smells emanating from each enclosure and the vibrant colours of the animals within gave us an appreciation for the biodiversity we are lucky to have in the world around us.
