At Challoner's we believe that there is more to education than just academic learning and our Educational Visits programme is integral to this belief.

From the very start of their Challoner's journey, our students are given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of educational activities which complement their in-school learning. Within their first month of school, all Year 7s take part in a residential to the United Kingdom Sailing Academy (UKSA) where they are given the chance to meet other new students, get to know their tutors and enjoy such activities as kayaking, keelboat sailing and paddle boarding. In May each year, students participate in Activity Week. For Year 9 students this means being participating in one of the six visits on offer. These range from trekking in Morocco, to abseiling, kayaking and canoeing in Wales or track and adventure cycling at the Calshot Activity Centre in Southampton. At the same time, Year 7 and 8 students take part in experiences closer to home including day visits such venues as Spy Games in Milton Keynes, Whipsnade Zoo and Bletchley Park.

UKSA

Our visits are diverse and wide reaching covering all year groups and interests. They range from day trips to residential stays, both ln the UK and abroad. Most of our visits are curriculum based, giving students the opportunity to further enhance and extend their learning outside the classroom. These include the Year 9 visit to the battlefields of France and Belgium, History visits to Germany, language exchanges to France, Germany and Spain and Sixth Form visits to Washington and Iceland. We also run several non-curriculum school visits, such as music tours, ski trips and sporting tours.

Morocco

We strongly believe that educational visits broadens our students' horizons by allowing them to encounter different cultures, perspectives and environments which in turn equip them with such skills as curiosity, empathy and resilience. Many students pinpoint these activities as being key highlights of their time at Challoner's. We believe that these opportunities should be accessible to all students and we endeavour to work closely with our external providers to keep costs as low as possible to encourage wider participation. See our annual calendar of activities below for further information.
