William Hussey, well-known for novels such as ‘Killing Jericho’, ‘The Outrage’ and ‘Jekyll’s Mirror’ visited Year 9 for an assembly on how to master the art of writing. His passion for his work was reflected in the engaging discussions and thoughtful advice he gave for young writers seeking to improve. Additionally, his list of fabulous achievements proved to everyone what can be created with pen, paper, and a head full of ideas. But that was not all: Hussey brought in an interactive side to his visit too. The year group learnt about Death Row in Victorian England: What was it like? How did the accused feel, knowing their end came closer with every second that passed? And why did crowds of their fellow citizens gather to see the deaths of these criminals? A good idea for a story, perhaps…
