DCGS has always put in a lot of effort as a school to keep alumni in the school community and I was fortunate enough to see the dividends of that last night at the latest Entrepreneur Evening. I had the opportunity to network with a mix of alumni in the field of Finance who all were happy to give lots of helpful advice about post-university options and career paths in the industry and I heard many interesting ideas about Venture Capital in entrepreneurship from the evening’s main speaker, Nic Brisbourne, during the Q&A session. As a current student, it was incredible to see the DCGS network come together and help each other talk through different problems arising from their separate areas.
As well as this, I had the opportunity to finish the Mentor Scheme on a high as I was able to meet my mentor, AJ, in his element as the evening was hosted at his offices in London. AJ is a former student who left Challoner’s in 2007 and is now working as a Vice President at William Blair in London; we were paired up through the Mentor Scheme and he has been incredibly supportive in helping me. He has introduced me to the investment banking sector aswell as advised me on my CV and expanded my network to other former students going back to the start of the Mentor Scheme.
One attendee said, "I found the session very engaging and it was an excellent group. I've had a couple of useful follow ups already with people I met."
