Despite the cloudy Saturday morning, the gloom was washed away by seas of Christmas lights strung throughout Amersham and continued into DCGS - for it was the annual Christmas Fayre, a highlight of the school calendar. Among the variety of exciting festivities, the grand hamper raffle was situated in the main hall, along with the numerous other hampers on offer for purchase and the bottle tombola (a special edition just for the adults). Local stalls inhabited the site and were set to sell everything from candles to precious stones. Eruptions of laughter echoed through the sports hall as people of all ages participated in sports-based games, with Splat the Rat and Tennis Keepy-Uppy just two of the many available. Pass the Pigs, the chocolate tombola, and other activities (mainly favouring the sweet-toothed population) took place in the studio. The abundance of games ensured the event brought excitement and festive cheer to everyone who visited, and I know all the students I talked to thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was wonderful to see such joy-filled faces in all directions. A big thank you to the Friends of DCGS who organised this remarkable event, and have successfully done so for many years to date. From the DCGS family, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
